Nubia's upcoming gaming smartphone, the RedMagic 9S Pro, has shown up on Geekbench. It runs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, which is essentially a regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with a slight boost on its Cortex-X4 core.

Nubia showed off a bunch of new gaming devices today, including an Intel Core i9-14900HX-powered gaming laptop and a transparent controller with 1,000 Hz polling rate. Next month, it is scheduled to launch its latest gaming smartphone: the RedMagic 9S Pro (codenamed Nubia NX769J). It uses what can essentially be considered a "Plus" variant of Qualcomm's flagship, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version.

A cursory glance at the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version's CPU clocks reveals its prime Cortex-X4 core runs at 3.4 GHz (vs. 3.3 GHz on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3), followed by three Cortex-A720 cores at 3.15 GHz (vs 3.2 GHz), two Cortex-A720 cores at 2.96 GHz (vs 3.0 GHz) and two Cortex-A520 cores at 2.27 GHz (vs 2.3 GHz).

It appears Qualcomm has upped the Cortex-X4's boost clock at the expense of all other cores, which makes sense for a gaming smartphone like the RedMagic 9s Pro that requires single-core performance.

As a result, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version scores 2,319 in Geekbench's single-core test and 7,215 in multi-core. This isn't all that much higher than the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (2,256/6,924), but we could see a slight performance boost once the phone hits retail channels. Other RedMagic 9S Pro specs include 16 GB of RAM. More details should emerge closer to launch.
