The Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD has joined the Odyssey OLED G8 G80SD in receiving a global release, five months after the pair were presented at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. As its name suggests, Samsung considers the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD to be a lesser alternative to the G80SD. Accordingly, the former is considerably cheaper than the latter.
Specifically, Samsung charges $1,299.99 for the G80SD in the US. By contrast, the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD retails for $899.99 before factoring in any launch discounts. For reference, these launch discounts are not limited to Samsung's retail platform. Instead, it is possible to purchase the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD from third parties like Amazon for $899.99 with a $200 gift card. Alternatively, Samsung has decided to bundle a pair of Galaxy Buds2 Pro in some other markets, including Europe.
Ultimately, the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD features the same underlying Gen 3 QD-OLED panel as the likes of the Gigabyte AORUS FO27Q3 and Dell Alienware AW2725DF. Consequently, the Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD outputs at 2,560 x 1,440 pixels across a 27-inch panel with a 360 Hz refresh rate. On top of that, the monitor boasts 0.03 ms GtG response times, 99% DCI-P3 colour space coverage and 250 nits typical peak SDR brightness. However, Samsung has added 'OLED Safeguard+ technology', which includes a 'Dynamic Cooling System' to that adjusts brightness levels to minimise the chance of burn-in occurring.
