Nothing has launched the Phone (4b) as the first product of a new series. Combining features from the Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro, the new phone has a large AMOLED display, a Snapdragon processor, and the largest battery in a Nothing smartphone.

Nothing's CMF sub-brand announced last month that it has cancelled the phone it planned to release this year. However, fans who want a budget smartphone have not been abandoned as there's a new budget phone from the main Nothing brand. The new device arrives as the Nothing Phone (4b) and is the first of a new (b) series.

The Nothing Phone (4b) is described as a combination of the Phone (4a) Pro and Phone (4a) in terms of its design. The back of the phone has the Glyph bar of the Phone (4a), and also borrows the Phone (4a) Pro's unibody design, albeit polycarbonate instead of aluminum; its large camera island; and the round recess at the bottom left corner.

With respect to specs, the Nothing Phone (4b) has a 6.77-inch LTPS AMOLED display with a 2344 × 1080 resolution. It has a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000Hz touch sampling rate, a 480Hz PWM frequency, and a peak brightness of 2000 nits. Powering it is a Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

The Phone (4b) has a Samsung 50MP primary rear camera with OIS and EIS, and an 8MP ultrawide angle camera with a 119.5° field of view. There's also a 16MP front-facing camera. Nothing says the phone can record in 4K at 30fps and supports simultaneous recording from the front and rear cameras.

It also has an Ultra XDR mode co-developed with Google, which allows users to capture images with true-to-life details that can be shared on Google Photos and Instagram. The Nothing Phone (4b) comes with a handful of filters including two that are exclusive — Disco, which adds dynamic lighting, and DV which gives photos an analog look.

There's also a 360° light sensor on the back for ambient light detection and better exposure control. And the Glyph Bar includes a red light that blinks when recording. The Glyph Bar has the same features as those of the Phone (4a) such as Live updates for apps such as Uber, Zomato, and Google Maps. There's an extra button called the Essential Key on the left side of the phone, which can be used to access AI tools.

The Nothing Phone (4b) has dual nano SIM support but the Japanese model has support for an eSIM. It also has NFC, an optical in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, dual mics, NFC, Bluetooth 6.0, and Wi-Fi 6. There's a 5,200mAh battery under the hood of the Phone (4b), but the Indian version packs a larger 6,000mAh battery, which is the largest battery capacity ever in a Nothing smartphone. There's support for 33W fast wired charging and 7.5W reverse wired charging. It also has a 4,400mm² vapor chamber to keep the device cool during gaming.

Nothing ships the Phone (4b) with Nothing OS 4.1 based on Android 16 and it promises 3 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates. Available in Blue, Black, White, and an Indian-exclusive Red, all of which have a UV top layer to reduce fingerprint smudges, the Nothing Phone (4b) has an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance. It is also advertised as being able to survive extreme temperatures and being 20% more resistant to bending than the Phone (3a) Lite.

The Nothing Phone (4b) is priced at €329 for the 128GB version in Germany and Austria while those in Switzerland can purchase it for CHF 299. It will also be available in the UK for £299 for the 128GB version. Unfortunately, there's no US release for the Phone (4b).
