Certain brands are tipped to pair the upcoming top-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 with unusually large batteries for their 2025 crop of Android flagship smartphones. However, according to an industry insider, that apparently presents the companies with a dilemma: keep their class-leading wireless charging tech, or pack those battery upgrades.

The OnePlus 12 proudly (and somewhat justifiably) backs itself as the "Fastest Wireless Charging" flagship Android smartphone on Amazon.com with its up-to-50W AirVOOC technology. The feature skipped a generation in 2023 - and will again in 2025, according to the latest leaks.

OnePlus, its twin brand OPPO and their sibling Realme are reportedly mulling the prospect of upgrading their next-gen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 4-powered flagships to batteries of a capacity seldom seen at their level on the market.

However, it seems that feature will come at the cost of wireless charging, according to knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station.

The tipster hints that 6,000mAh battery upgrades at the expense of AirVOOC is an inevitable weight-saving measure, especially if the user still wants to charge at up to 100W over USB-C.

Accordingly, while the OnePlus 13 might get the best screen-on time on the market in 2025, it might still lose out to rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra in terms of high-end, non-essential yet possibly time-saving, charging perks.
