M25: New retro gaming handheld launches with PlayStation Portal copycat design

There are plenty of retro gaming handheld copycats around, whether that be those like the R40S that imitate other more popular retro gaming handhelds or those that seek to emulate classic designs like the Odin2 Mini. Now, there is an option that has piggybacked on the PlayStation Portal (curr. $199 on Amazon), a PlayStation 5 accessory is relatively limited in scope.

Arguably, the chipset choice that underpins the M25 makes the device less powerful than the device upon which it draws its inspiration. Specifically, the former's Geekbuying listing suggests that the M25 relies upon the Rockchip RK3566, a 22 nm SoC that powers numerous other retro gaming handhelds like the Anbernic RG503, GKD Mini Plus and the Powkiddy RGB30, among others. For reference, the  Rockchip RK3566 inside the M25 contains four ARM Cortex-A55 CPU cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, along with a Mali-G52 MP2 GPU that typically can boost to around 950 MHz.

Additionally, the M25 finds itself with 4 GB of RAM, a 3,000 mAh battery and 64 GB or 128 GB of expandable storage, upon which its manufacturer pre-installs EmuELEC 4.3. Curiously, the device costs $87.99 regardless of whether you configure it with 64 GB or 128 GB storage.
