Only a few days have gone by since HMD Global unveiled the Aura, an entry-level smartphone powered by a Unisoc SC9863A1 chipset. According to SuomiMobiil, the company is also planning a more powerful option, which the website has dubbed 'HMD Nighthawk'. For reference, HMD Nighthawk will serve as a cheaper alternative to HMD Skyline, pricing, specifications and a release date for which we have covered separately.
As far as we can tell, while HMD Skyline is a release name, HMD Nighthawk is a codename. At any rate, SuomiMobiil alleges that the latter will feature 108 MP primary and 32 MP front-facing cameras, just like HMD Skyline. Additionally, HMD Global is said to have equipped HMD Nighthawk with an OLED display that resolves at 1080p and 120 Hz.
However, the device will lack the 8 MP secondary and 2 MP tertiary rear-facing cameras present in the HMD Skyline. On top of that, SuomiMobiil claims that HMD Global has swapped the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 inside the HMD Skyline for the lesser Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. As a result, HMD Nighthawk is expected to launch for €299, despite retaining 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Although a release date remains unknown for now, there is nothing to suggest that HMD Nighthawk will not debut alongside HMD Skyline in early July.
