XMG Fusion 15 (Early 24) with top ranking among the RTX 4070 laptops
The lightweight, compact XMG Fusion 15 doesn't come with a conventional screen size: Instead of a 16-inch or 15.6-inch screen, it uses a 15.3-inch panel (2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 240 Hz) with a 16:10 aspect ratio. A Core i9 processor, RTX 4070, Thunderbolt 4 and very good runtimes round out its total package.
The lightweight (ca. 2.1 kg), compact XMG Fusion 15 (Early 24) is based on a barebone (GM5IX7A) from Tongfang. The device can be individually configured via Schenker's online shop and can be had from around US$1,700 (with an RTX 4060). The present variant costs about US$2,500.
A combination of a Core i9-14900HX (Raptor Lake), GeForce RTX 4070 and 32 GB RAM (DDR5-5600, dual-channel mode) equip the laptop for all demanding fields of use—such as video editing, rendering and gaming. A fast PCIe-4 SSD provides the necessary storage capacity (1 TB) and ensures that loading times are kept short. Should you run out of storage, then you can always add more: The laptop features space for a second M.2-2280-format SSD. RAID-0/1 is supported.
The hardware allows for all current games to be played smoothly. In doing so, you can usually make use of the screen's full resolution (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) and high to maximum settings. Higher resolutions could be achieved with a corresponding display connected—the laptop can power up to two additional screens (1x HDMI, 1x DisplayPort via USB-C).
Despite its powerful hardware, the laptop isn't missing any stamina: Its 99.8-Wh battery allows for practical runtimes of 8 to 10 hours. Positive: The battery can also be charged via a universal USB-C power supply (100 watts, 20 V)—its USB-C port (Thunderbolt 4) supports Power Delivery (and can output a DisplayPort signal).

Originally from Scotland, I grew up and lived in Germany until I completed my high school qualifications before moving back to Scotland to complete my university studies. Growing up bilingual led me to form a close relationship with the English and German languages, often working in the fields of teaching and translation. Most of my childhood was shaped by playing around on new consoles, computers and gadgets and getting to grips with the new craze of the internet and smartphones. This interest has stayed with me well into adulthood. Nowadays, I live in Glasgow and work as a freelance translator and digital media coordinator. I have been translating for Notebookcheck since early 2023.
