Reolink unveils new low-light color vision outdoor 4K security camera with Wi-Fi 6
Reolink asserts that its latest addition to the Argus series can stream or record in low light with all the color and detail it can muster by day - and all without the potentially battery-draining IR or spotlights of older wide-angle outdoor security camera.
In fact, the OEM asserts that the new 4 Pro can save up to 2 watts per hour (W/h) in night-vision mode compared to other 4K security cameras with IR, for a battery life of up to 30% longer, thanks to Reolink's new ColorX technology.
It confers a lens of an enlarged f/1.0 aperture for a more light-sensitive 1/1.8-inch sensor, rated to achieve a lumen per square meter (or LUX) value of as little as 0.0005, whereas the average outdoor camera might achieve 0.003 LUX at best (according to Reolink, at least).
The Argus 4 Pro has 2 of these shooters, touted to be blind spot-free despite the camera's binocular build - although that feature is based on Dual-Image Stitching algorithms in that case.
Reolink's latest wide-angle home security camera is also rated to manage its up to 4K/UHD footage subscription-free, with options such as microSD card storage, the use of a central Reolink hub or streaming directly to a user's smartphone over a Wi-Fi 6 connection.
The Argus 4 Pro can also be installed completely wirelessly, and is available on Amazon with a solar panel to that end for $212.99 at the time of writing.
