Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece returns with Lara Croft-inspired design and purple accents

Timex has introduced a new version of its Intrepid x Dimepiece watch, following the success of last year’s collaboration. Dubbed the Intrepid x Dimepiece Blackout Edition, the new timepiece features an all-black stainless steel case, a contrasting cream dial and purple accents. The new watch is the result of another collaboration between Timex, Dimepiece founder Brynn Wallner and Foundwell’s Alan Bedwell. The original Intrepid debuted in 1995 with a 46mm case.
The Blackout Edition (TW6A19800) retains its predecessor’s 36mm stainless steel case, this time with a black finish. It measures 10mm thick, has a 40mm lug-to-lug distance and weighs approximately 58.5 grams. A cream-coloured dial contrasts with the darker exterior, while purple accents appear on the seconds hand, 12 o’clock hour marker and dedicated backlight button at 9 o’clock.
Other design elements include skeletonised hour and minute hands, a rotating bezel for measuring elapsed time and an unusually positioned crown near 4 o’clock. Timex has also fitted the watch with a black nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) strap featuring embossed Timex Indiglo branding. The 18 mm strap uses quick-release spring bars for easier replacement.
Underneath the mineral crystal sits a battery-powered quartz movement, although Timex has not specified its exact calibre. The watch is rated for 100 metres of water resistance, making it suitable for swimming and other recreational water activities. Its INDIGLO illumination system also allows the dial to be read in low-light conditions.
Timex cites Lara Croft from Tomb Raider as one of the aesthetic inspirations behind the new Blackout Edition. However, the changes are largely cosmetic, with most of the original model's specifications remaining intact.
The Timex Intrepid x Dimepiece Blackout Edition is currently listed for £225 in the UK and $269 in the US.
