Published by the indie studio Crate Entertainment, Farthest Frontier is a medieval city builder featuring survival mechanics. In this game, you'll have to expand your colony, make it thrive, and face numerous dangers.

As its name suggests, Farthest Frontier takes place at the edge of the known world. Your goal as a player will be to build and protect your settlement while surviving the many dangers that await you.

Each game features a procedurally generated map, and you'll need to gather 16 different raw materials, fish, farm, and craft items. As for your city, you can build more than 190 structures and unlock numerous technologies to improve them. Your villagers are also important and have various jobs. They can transport goods to different warehouses to contribute to your town's economy.

But your progress may be hindered by various threats. Diseases such as the plague or cholera can affect your citizens. Wild animals can destroy your crops, and enemies will also attack you. To protect yourself, you’ll need to build walls and defenses. However, the developers from Crate Entertainment have also added a pacifist mode.

As for player reviews on Steam, Farthest Frontier is rated "Very Positive," with 86% positive reviews out of 25,615. On Metacritic, it has a Metascore of 83 despite a user score of 7.0. Among its strengths are its world and graphics. The management mechanics are also appreciated, as is the economic aspect. However, the pace is slow, and some players mention an imbalance as you progress. Bugs have also been reported, and the AI has been criticized.

Despite this, Farthest Frontier is available on Steam for $17.49 instead of $34.99. However, according to SteamDB, this 50% discount will end on October 8, 2026, and its lowest price was $16.99 on June 25, 2026, during a 67% sale.
