As we saw in our review, the new Asus ProArt P16 is an exceptionally slim, high-quality 16-inch multimedia laptop with an outstanding 4K tandem OLED touchscreen. It is also considerably slimmer and more than 300 grams lighter than the current MacBook Pro 16, whose design has not changed in years.
However, that could change as early as next week, as Apple is about to launch a MacBook with an OLED touchscreen. This new MacBook Ultra is also expected to feature a completely new design, and we assume it will be somewhat thinner than before. Apple already has experience with tandem OLED panels thanks to the iPad Pro, so it makes sense for this technology to now make its way into the MacBook as well.
If the rumors are to be believed, the MacBook Ultra will use the familiar M5 Pro & M5 Max processors, which are clearly superior to the Nvidia RTX Spark N1X in terms of performance and efficiency. If the MacBook Ultra does become thinner, however, we are curious to see whether its performance will match the MacBook Pro or whether compromises will be necessary. CPU performance is already lower in the smaller MacBook Pro 14.
Aside from performance, though, the Asus ProArt P16 has no reason to shy away from the competition: its sound system is excellent, it offers plenty of ports, including a very fast SD Express card reader, and its keyboard is better than that of the current MacBook Pro. This positions it as a direct rival to Apple's upcoming MacBook Ultra.
