Seiko launches new Hideo Kojima watches in Japan, but there's a catch

Hideo Kojima’s Kojima Productions has once again teamed up with Seiko to release a pair of limited-edition Ludens watches celebrating the studio’s tenth anniversary. Available in black and white, the watches are limited to 300 pieces per variant.
Both models feature a dial inspired by Ludens, the Kojima Productions mascot. The white version pairs a predominantly silver-and-white dial with a patterned white strap. A large illustration of Ludens occupies the right side of the dial, accompanied by the studio’s From Sapiens to Ludens slogan. The caseback features an engraved Ludens illustration, the Seiko logo, and an individual serial number identifying each watch’s place in the 300-piece production run.
Underneath the elaborate design is Seiko’s 6N01 battery-powered quartz movement. It offers an advertised accuracy of ±15 seconds per month and about three years of battery life. Other specifications include a stainless steel case, Hardlex crystal, 19 mm strap width, and everyday water resistance. The watches are manufactured in Japan.
The black Ludens watch is priced at ¥55,000 ($350). Preorders opened on October 30 through Japan’s Lawson convenience store chain and HMV&BOOKS, with reservations scheduled to continue until December 14 or until the allocation sells out.
Meanwhile, the white version costs ¥57,600 ($365) and is bundled with an admission ticket to Kojima Productions’ Beyond the Strand tenth-anniversary exhibition. The exhibition runs from October 31 through December 20 at Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills Gallery. It is important to note the bundled ticket is only valid for admission between November 4 and December 20.
However, there is a significant catch. Both watches are scheduled for delivery on September 30, 2027, meaning buyers will have to wait nearly eleven months to get their hands on them.
