The Galaxy XCover 7 Pro could finally get a successor after a year and a half.
The next-generation Samsung Galaxy XCover is apparently just around the corner, as two leaks point to the imminent launch of the Galaxy XCover Scan, which appears to feature a Qualcomm Dragonwing ARM processor and an unusual feature.

Since the launch of the Samsung Galaxy XCover7 Pro ($599 on Amazon) in May 2025, Samsung has not released any new models in the XCover series. The next-generation XCover, known by the model number "SM-G778B", was already spotted in the GSMA database in August. Now SammyGuru has discovered a trademark application suggesting that the device will be marketed as the "Galaxy XCover Scan".

In addition, three smartphones with the model number "SM-G778B" were tested on Geekbench on October 14. The benchmark entries suggest that the Galaxy XCover Scan is equipped with a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 SoC. Qualcomm markets the 2025 chip as the world's first smartphone processor with an integrated UHF RFID chip. According to Qualcomm, this chip can be used to open doors with compatible locks or scan products, among other things – which could also explain the name "Galaxy XCover Scan".

The SoC also supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 and USB 3.1, but is limited to cameras with a maximum resolution of 32 megapixels. According to Qualcomm, the processor will receive platform updates until 2034. According to Geekbench, Samsung pairs the chip with 8 GB of RAM in at least one variant of the Galaxy XCover Scan. Performance, however, is only average: with 1,069 points (single-thread) and 3,142 points (multi-thread) in Geekbench 7, the processor is only slightly faster than the Snapdragon 778G+ or the MediaTek Dimensity 7300. It is not yet known when the Galaxy XCover Scan will be released.
