Millions of Prime subscribers are waiting for great deals, while manufacturers and retailers are hoping for strong sales: Amazon Prime Deal Days traditionally take place in the fall and kick off the big deals season, which builds toward Black Friday.
Why wasn't the Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2 available during Amazon Prime Deal Days?
At IFA in early September, Lenovo unveiled a high-end tablet for this very deals season as a competitor to the Apple iPad Air 11 or the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12: The Lenovo Yoga Tab Gen 2. Surely Prime Deal Days would have been the ideal platform to introduce this tablet to a broad audience of buyers, right?
But the tablet was completely absent from the major shopping platform, worldwide. Instead, the tablet is still primarily available directly from the manufacturer, starting at US$ 599. How could Lenovo let an opportunity like this slip away?
No tablet discount at launch?
Now, you could argue that Lenovo perhaps didn't want to sell its new premium tablet at a bargain price right away. That may well be true, but it could at least have listed the tablet in the store so that some of the many people visiting Amazon during this period might stumble upon it. And a small discount could have rounded things off.
Well, perhaps Lenovo hasn't ramped up production of the tablet sufficiently yet. That may also be true, but even then, it could at least have listed a small number on Amazon and benefited from the free exposure for the tablet. Or it could at least have created a product page and launched a preorder campaign if the tablet wasn't yet available in sufficient quantities.
It would have been a great opportunity
It's a real shame that Lenovo didn't take advantage of this opportunity, because the Yoga Tab Gen 2 can certainly hold its own against similarly priced tablets when it comes to the chassis, battery life, or screen.
