HP releases new 16-inch laptop with 99 Wh battery, 128 GB RAM and 1,100-nit OLED display

HP has joined the raft of other Windows OEMs in bringing the Nvidia RTX Spark N1X architecture to a 16-inch form factor. Joining Asus, Dell and MSI, HP has positioned the RTX Spark architecture within its consumer-focused OmniBook Ultra range, which includes the OmniBook Ultra 14 and OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 (curr. $1,399 on Amazon).
The OmniBook Ultra starts at $3,199 in the US, $200 more than the smaller OmniBook X with the same 18-core RTX Spark N1X chipset. Meanwhile, HP charges $3,619 for Nvidia's 20-core variant. By contrast, the 20-core variant can be picked up in the UK for £3,199 (~$4,235), including taxes.
Alternatively, one can configure the new OmniBook Ultra with 64 GB of RAM for $4,199. At the time of writing, HP charges a further $1,110 for 128 GB of RAM and $850 for a 2 TB PCIe Gen 5 SSD to replace the 1 TB equivalent included by default. As a result, a fully-configured OmniBook Ultra retails for $6,159.
Also, all SKUs feature the same 99 Wh battery. Moreover, HP equips all OmniBook Ultra variants with the same 16-inch OLED display. Resolving at 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, this display boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate like its 14-inch counterpart. Likewise, this display is said to peak at 500 nits when viewing SDR content and 1,100 nits when HDR content is active.
Currently, HP expects to start shipping pre-orders on November 6 in the US. In comparison, Currys reports that UK pre-orders will start shipping on November 17. Please see HP's website for more details.
