Garmin releases new smartwatch globally with ECG, flashlight and AMOLED display

Garmin has returned to its Approach series with a new smartwatch aimed at golfers. To recap, the company released the Approach J1 and Approach G82 earlier this year, with the latter being a GPS handheld rather than a smartwatch (curr. $599 on Amazon).
Now, it has launched the Approach S72 globally. A direct replacement for last year's Approach S70, the Approach S72 has arrived alongside the long-awaited Enduro 4. According to Garmin, the Approach S72 is its 'ultimate golf smartwatch' To that end, the new release surpasses the Approach S70 in a few key areas.
For instance, the Approach S72 supports built-in mapping, an LED flashlight and Garmin's Training Readiness software. Additionally, the new smartwatch adds electrocardiogram (ECG) functionality, 24/7 pulse blood oxygen saturation monitoring and enhanced location services thanks to QZSS support. One can find their smartphone during GPS activities too, as well as use Garmin's voice assistant software.
Moreover, Garmin has equipped the Approach S72 with 64 GB of storage, four times as much storage as its predecessor. Despite this upgrade, the new Approach maintains up to 16 days of battery life in smartwatch mode, or 20 hours in golf activity mode with GPS activated.
The Approach S72 will be available to order globally on October 9. In the meantime, Garmin has confirmed that the smartwatch will retail for $799 in 43 mm or 47 mm sizes with a choice of two finishes per size. By contrast, Approach S72 has reached Europe for €799 in the Eurozone and £699 in the UK. Please see Garmin's website for more details.
