Dynamic Island in the Apple MacBook Pro: Images reveal features in advance

It has long been an open secret that Apple will unveil a brand-new MacBook Pro ($2,799 on Amazon) later today, as reports from reliable sources have been indicating for weeks. Apple's next-generation flagship laptop is expected not only to feature a thinner, lighter chassis, an OLED touchscreen and higher prices, but also to replace the still-controversial notch at the top of the screen with a much smaller punch-hole.
@itspdfu has now discovered several graphics in the macOS 27 code that offer an early look at what this Dynamic Island could look like and which features it will likely offer. The design is no surprise, as the Dynamic Island on the iPhone uses a similar user interface. Apple apparently also intends to expand the punch-hole on the MacBook Pro by turning the pixels to its left and right black. This pill-shaped area can then be used to draw attention to certain system events, such as AirPods being connected, a Focus mode being enabled, or the battery running low.
On the iPhone, the Dynamic Island also displays certain background activities, such as ongoing music playback or an active timer. It remains to be seen whether Apple plans a similarly broad range of features for the MacBook Pro's Dynamic Island. In any case, it should only be a few more hours before the next-generation MacBook Pro is officially unveiled.
