The Dell 16 Premium has been launched with Intel's newest Arrow Lake-HX processors and Nvidia's RTX 50 series GPUs. For now, only the RTX 5060 variant is available for purchase.

After axing the XPS 15 at CES 2024 and replacing it with the XPS 16, Dell got rid of the XPS brand altogether this year. We now have the Dell 16 Premium as the successor to the XPS 16. Unlike the Dell 14 Premium, which inexplicably skipped an RTX 50 series GPU, the Dell 16 Premium comes with up-to-date parts from Intel and Nvidia.

Like its last-gen counterpart, you can pick between a 4K (3,840 x 2,400) OLED panel or a 2K (1,920 x 1,200) IPS LCD panel for its screen. Both have a refresh rate ranging from 30 Hz to 120 Hz. A 99.9 Wh battery powers the Dell 16 Premium, and Dell includes a 130-watt charger in the box regardless of hardware choices.

Dell offers the 16 Premium with Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, Core Ultra 7 265H, and Core Ultra 9 285H Arrow Lake processors. They can be paired with a GeForce RTX 5050 (45 Watts), RTX 5060 (45 Watts) and RTX 5070 (55 Watts) laptop GPU from Nvidia. Users who do not require a dGPU can opt for an Intel Arc 140T. However, only the RTX 5060 variant will be available immediately, with the other SKUs expected to surface later.

Users can pick between up to 64 GB of DDR5-7647 or DDR5-8400 memory. The latter configuration (64 GB DDR5-8400) is only available with a dGPU. One can pair it with up to a 4 TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD. Wireless connectivity options on the Dell 16 Premium include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. A 1080p webcam with Windows Hello functionality is also included.

Once again, Dell doesn't offer much in the way of I/O. The RTX 5060/5050 models are limited to three Thunderbolt 4.0 ports, while the RTX 5070 variant gets three Thunderbolt 5.0 ports. Thankfully, a microSDXC card is included, along with a 3.5 mm audio jack. The Dell 16 Premium (RTX 5060 variant only) is now available for purchase, starting at $2,699.99.
