Deal | Casio's Pro Trek PRG-270-1 with Triple Sensor, Tough Solar gets huge 40% Amazon discount

Casio's Pro Trek PRG-270-1 is down to $120 on Amazon. It is currently marked as a limited-time deal against a $200 list price. Amazon calls that 40% off, but the more useful number comes from the Keepa price history: the watch has averaged $179.93 over the past 90 days, so $120 is roughly a third below what it has actually been selling for.

It is not an all-time low. That was $74.99, back in December 2017. Nothing since has come close, and the 180-day average is still at $168.49. Prices on this listing move often, dropping about three times a month — it is a recurring low rather than a one-off.

What you get is Triple Sensor Version 3 on module 3415: an altimeter from minus 700 to 10,000 m, a barometer across 260 to 1,100 hPa with a 42-hour tendency graph, a digital compass, and a thermometer reading minus 10 to 60 C in 0.1-degree steps. There is also a barometric pressure tendency alarm that warns of sudden pressure swings, which is the feature hikers actually use. Tough Solar runs it for about nine months on a full charge, or 24 months in the dark with power saving on. Water resistance is 100 m and it keeps working down to minus 10 C.

The catch is age and size. This is a 2013 design at 54.6 x 52.4 x 15 mm, and the resin case weighs 67 g. There is no Bluetooth and no step counting. Amazon's own review summary notes buyers are split on both the size and the altimeter's accuracy, though it holds 4.7 stars across 2,224 ratings.
