Casio's newest collab G-Shock is essentially a banana, ships this week

Casio's newest G-Shock collaboration is a banana. Bait has announced "Yamagata's Finest", a DW5600 finished in ripe-banana yellow with brown speckles scattered across the band. It goes on sale this week.
Yamagata Prefecture is where Casio's Yamagata plant builds G-Shocks, and Bait is basically marketing the watch as "produce from that farm." A banana is at its sweetest for a narrow window, so Bait is calling it a reference to timing, which is about as on-the-nose as watch puns get.
The execution is solid. Photos posted by Bait show the speckle print across the strap, the keeper and the buckle instead of stopping at the case. The display is a positive LCD, so it looks dark on pale, and switching on the backlight reveals printed graphics of the collaboration's banana mascot across the panel. That mascot is called "Shawty with Freckles", and it's engraved on the stainless-steel case back too.
Everything else is standard. That means 200 m of water resistance, module 3525, the EL backlight, a stopwatch, a countdown timer and an alarm.
Bait is packaging it in a yellow tin marked "Bait Farms Non-GMO", and there's a matching apparel capsule alongside it, with a uniform jacket, a cap and a T-shirt. The company has a long run of these, by the way. It did an Initial D DW5600 in 2020, an Apple-themed one in 2024, and a Toyo Tires model after that.
The launch event runs at Bait Santa Ana in California on September 29 from 5 to 9 PM, with a DJ, food and drinks. The watch then reaches all Bait Chapter stores and BAITMe.com on September 30. It hasn't published a price yet. For reference, the 2024 "Innovation" DW5600 sold for $150.
