Casio's new G-Shock gets a metal-and-resin bracelet
Casio’s G-Shock DWE-5600MTM pairs a monochrome design with an unconventional bracelet combining stainless steel and multiple resin types. It's launching in Japan first and offers shock resistance, 200-meter water resistance, and up to five years of battery life.

Casio’s vast G-Shock collection features watches with a variety of bands. Resin is the default choice, but there is no shortage of alternatives. You’ll find plenty of great options with metal, silicone, or fabric straps. But for its latest G-Shock, the Japanese watchmaker is going for something out of the ordinary.

Meet the DWE-5600MTM, a new monochrome addition to the classic 5600 series with an unusual multi-material bracelet that combines stainless steel and several types of resin.

The band is the real talking point here. It combines different materials in a patchwork arrangement. The six o'clock side features honed stainless steel links, while the opposite half mixes urethane resin and fine resin components, with a translucent resin link providing an unexpected accent. Even the clasp gets a matching stainless steel treatment. The result is an almost mismatched bracelet that somehow comes together thanks to the watch's color scheme.

The DWE-5600MTM is part of the recently released monochrome G-Shock lineup and sticks to a black and grey color scheme, with a gray resin case surrounding the square digital display. The bezel retains the familiar chunky look, while the black dial gets a subtle gray mesh-pattern print. Casio has also applied silver vapor deposition to the glass, adding a metallic sheen that ties the whole design together. White lettering and contrasting finishes keep the display legible without disrupting the monochromatic aesthetic.

The rest of the package is pretty familiar, with the watch featuring a carbon fiber-reinforced resin case with Casio's Carbon Core Guard construction, along with shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance. You also get a stopwatch, countdown timer, multi-alarm, and Super Illuminator LED backlight, and up to five years of battery life.

Pricing & Availability

The new G-Shock DWE-5600MTM is now available in Japan for ¥28,050 (~$178), with international availability yet to be confirmed.
