The Yangtze Memory PC42Q512GBG4Q is an M.2 PCIe 4 NVMe SSD that debuted in early March 2025. With a capacity of 512 GB, the 3D QLC-powered drive promises sequential read speeds of up to 5.3 GB with writes up to 4.6 GB/s. We first tested the 22 by 42 version in June 2026; a 22 by 80 version is available as well.
YMTC promises lower-than-usual power consumption figures. At 150 TBW, projected reliability is average a best.
Performance
In Notebookcheck's tests with AS SSD, the drive delivered unimpressive sequential read and write rates of 3.95 GB/s and 2.51 GB/s, respectively. Throttling was plentiful as well, with very noticeable dips in DiskSpd read stress test.
