Xteink X4 Pro makes it to Time magazine's Best inventions of 2026 list

This year has seen its fair share of e-readers. However, amidst the new Amazon Kindles, reMarkable Paper Pure, and new Boox devices, the e-readers that have been a hit among readers are the pocket-sized ones. And among this relatively new category of e-readers is the Xteink X4 Pro, which has made it onto Time's Best Inventions of 2026 list.
Time praises the Xteink X4 Pro pocket e-reader for its compact size, thanks to its 4.3-inch touchscreen display. It also has physical controls and an adjustable temperature front light. Time notes the device's lack of an ebook storefront, unlike Amazon's Kindle and Rakuten's Kobo e-readers, but also acknowledges that the Xteink X4 Pro's unlocked firmware gives users the freewill to do whatever they want with it, including sideloading their own books.
The Xteink X4 Pro (available on Amazon for $99) is one of three devices with a display manufactured by TCL CSOT that made it on to Time's Best Inventions of 2026 list. The other two are the TCL X11L TV, which uses a TCL CSOT WHVA 2.0 Ultra Panel with a 7,000:1 contrast ratio and nearly 11,000 nits of brightness; and the Framework Laptop 13, which is equipped with a custom 13.5-inch 2.8K touch display.
TCL CSOT has shared posts on Weibo that celebrate the three devices. It has also announced it is giving away five Xteink X4 Pro e-readers to its followers on the Chinese social media platform on November 10.
