Xiaomi’s new 10kg smart washer features built-in electrolysis technology

While Xiaomi already offers washing machines and washer-dryers in Western markets, its home appliance portfolio in China remains vastly more extensive. The company has now expanded this lineup with the launch of the Mijia Washing Machine Pro Super Electrolytic Smart Drum 10kg.

As the name suggests, the appliance features an electrolysis function that uses an electrical current to partially split water into its components. The resulting active oxygen is designed to eliminate bacteria and enhance fabric brightness, though detergent is still required. To streamline the process, the machine automates detergent dosing, eliminating the need for manual estimation. It detects the specific laundry load and dispenses the required detergent with an accuracy of 0.75 milliliters. Users can still override these automatic settings to manually adjust for specific soil levels.

As a smart home appliance, the washing machine integrates seamlessly into the Xiaomi ecosystem and offers a wide range of specialised wash programs. These include a 36-minute cycle optimised for heavy cleaning, as well as a 12-minute quick wash for lightly soiled laundry. Additionally, Xiaomi claims the machine can remove over 90 percent of pet hair. In China, the Mijia Pro is priced at the equivalent of around $375, though details regarding an international release have not yet been announced.
