Xiaomi raises smartphone prices by up to 13% in China

REDMI Turbo 5, Turbo 5 Max, K90, K90 Max, K90 Pro Max, and K90 Ultra just received official price hikes in China, effective August 2. Prices for some of the Xiaomi 17 series phones also increased, with the Pro Max rising by up to 500 yuan.

Notably, the increases affected both Snapdragon and MediaTek models. The Turbo 5, Turbo 5 Max, and K90 Max use Dimensity chips, while the K90, K90 Ultra, and K90 Pro Max use Snapdragon chips; all six received the same 300-yuan increase. That rules out a Qualcomm-specific pricing story and instead points to broader component cost pressures.

This is Xiaomi's second price adjustment this year. The company first raised prices on select Xiaomi and Redmi models in April, citing sharp increases in memory chip costs. Redmi president Lu Weibing said in April that memory prices for identical specifications had risen nearly fourfold year over year, adding roughly 1,500 yuan to the cost of a 12GB+512GB configuration. He has since called the current period the toughest the smartphone industry has faced in nearly a decade, with budget phones bearing the brunt of it.
