Xiaomi launches new temperature and humidity sensor that can measure CO₂ levels

Xiaomi has begun selling a new version of its temperature and humidity sensor in China. Officially known as the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro, the sensor does more than just measure temperature and humidity.

The Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro retains the squircle design of the previous generations, and like its predecessors, it comes in white and has an ABS plastic shell. Although, it would be nice if Xiaomi released it in other colors. The sensor, which has two buttons on the right side, can be placed on a flat surface or attached to a metal surface thanks to an included magnet attachment and stand.

The sensor has a 3.6-inch LCD panel as its screen that displays the time, date (day and month), temperature, and humidity. In addition to temperature and humidity measurement, the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro also has support for measuring carbon dioxide CO₂ levels. Xiaomi says this new feature is possible as a result of Sensirion's new generation CO₂ sensor which allows for continuous monitoring of indoor CO₂ levels.

The Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro connects via Bluetooth 5.0 to a Bluetooth Mesh gateway, allowing users to link it to compatible devices. It can be linked to supported appliances under the Mi Home app such as air conditioners, air purifiers, humidifiers, and smart curtains. The Mi Home App also allows users to view past data.

Powered by a CR2450 battery which Xiaomi claims should last up to a year before needing to be replaced, the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Pro is available to buy in China now for CNY 129 (~$19/€17) on the Youpin store.

There's no news yet of a global release, but considering the Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 and Xiaomi Smart Temperature and Humidity Monitor 3 Mini (available on Amazon.de for €16.86) are available outside China, there's a chance this pro model will follow suit.
