Xiaomi launches new Poco smartphone globally with 120 Hz VRR display and dual 50 MP cameras

Xiaomi has officially launched a new Poco X8 series smartphone globally. To recap, the company has already introduced the Poco X8, Poco X8 Power, Poco X8 Pro and the Poco X8 Pro Max (curr. $519 on Amazon) in the last few months.
Now, it has launched the Poco X8s globally. For context, the smartphone landed on Shopee last week in Vietnam. Shortly beforehand, the same smartphone appeared on Geekbench with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 and 12 GB of RAM. According to Xiaomi's global website, this RAM configuration comes exclusively with 512 GB of storage.
Alternatively, the Poco X8s will be available with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Both memory configurations contain LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage, though. Moreover, Xiaomi complements Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset with Poco 3D IceLoop, a 4,497 mm² vapour chamber aimed at minimising thermal throttling.

On top of that, the Poco X8s boasts a 6,330 mAh battery, 100 W wired charging support and a 6.35-inch AMOLED display featuring a 1-120 Hz variable refresh rate, 3,500 nits peak brightness and a 2,656 x 1,220-pixel resolution generating a 460 PPI pixel density. Furthermore, Xiaomi includes 50 MP primary (Light Fusion 800), 50 MP telephoto, 8 MP ultra-wide-angle and 20 MP front-facing cameras.
The Poco X8s is IP68 certified too, all within a 187 g housing that measures 151.1 x 71.8 x 8.06 mm. So far, the new smartphone has only officially reached Vietnam, where it starts at VND 10,990,000 (~$425) on Xiaomi's website with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. By contrast, Xiaomi charges VND 13,490,000 (~$522) for 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. Both memory configurations can be purchased in Black, Blue and White colours. The company has not confirmed pricing for other markets yet.
