One of the best-known names behind the popular smartphone, wearable and IoT brand Redmi has been abruptly ejected from the company by parent company Xiaomi. Wang Teng Thomas has stated his regret in having to leave the brand in his apologetic goodbye messages via social media.

If there has been one Weibo user at the forefront of the most intriguing official Redmi teasers over the last few years, it is Wang Teng - but not anymore.

The executive's account had rendered normal service right up until August 2025, alerting Redmi fans to the presence of the latest HyperOS beta. However, its last message speaks of its erstwhile owner's "deep sadness" to leave the brand.

Xiaomi has fired Wang Teng (also often known as Wang Teng Thomas) citing a severe breach of its regulations and conduct. The OEM has now openly confirmed reports that its former employee had been let go for divulging confidential information.

Wang Teng denies having done anything overtly illegal, yet has conceded that he has "made mistakes in the past", and is now "deeply ashamed" and prepared to face the consequences of his actions.

The beneficiaries of his apparently leaked data remain unknown to the public, although, in probably unrelated news, the prominent leaker Digital Chat Station's own latest Weibo post shows a single teary-eyed emoji.
