Xiaomi HyperOS 4 release gains momentum as new leak points to nearing launch

The HyporOS 3.3 internal testing has reportedly kicked off, and per the reports, it will be based on Android 17. It's said not to be for public release, and it's possible that Xiaomi is testing it for the release of HyperOS 4.
Speaking of which, the release of HyperOS 4 might be around the corner. As Digital Chat Station, a reliable tipster, hints, the earliest release timeline could be August 2026, which is next month.
Of course, the Xiaomi Android update will first hit the Chinese market, and after the first few phases, the company is expected to roll it out globally. Before all these happen, there could be public beta testing, and an announcement for that is likely over the horizon.
Per previous reports, Xiaomi HyperOS 4 has its core code rewritten with Rust and Flutter. This change is expected to remove the redundant code from the MIUI, making the update achieve the "zero legacy" design status. The removal of redundancy and other optimizations will reportedly improve system smoothness by around 40% and improve memory efficiency by up to 30%.
Reports have suggested an improvement in system fluidity for long-term use as well. In terms of the interface, Xiaomi is expected to introduce a "liquid glass" design. AI-powered features should see an upgrade as well, and Xiaomi could introduce new ones with HyperOS 4.
Now, while the beta testing phase may begin as early as August 2026, the full release could happen at the launch of the Xiaomi 18 series. The current-gen Xiaomi 17 lineup should be among the first phones to receive the stable update, and they are expected to be joined by the Redmi K90 series (12/256GB K90 Pro Max curr. $647.15 on TradingShenzhen).
