Will the Redmi Note 8 Pro receive Android 11? Likely not, it seems

Xiaomi began sending out the global Android 10 update back in late February. The rollout has been incredibly checkered, though, as most owners seem to have yet to receive the update. Android 11 is already around the corner, however, but it would seem that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is unlikely to partake in that feast.

When quizzed on the Mi forums, a moderator confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro is unlikely to receive the Android 11 update at all. 

That's a pretty open-ended statement, but it quite obviously leans towards the negative. Xiaomi typically provides two OS updates to its flagship phones. The Mi 8, for example, has received both Pie and Android 10. It's an entirely different matter for the mid-range offerings, though.

Going by this statement and Xiaomi's previous performance, we don't expect the Redmi Note 8 Pro to ever receive an official Android 11 update. It will, however, get MIUI 12, and almost definitely MIUI 13 next year.
