With the PGYTECH Photography Kit, one of the best camera phones of 2025 can be transformed into a compact camera. We take a closer look at this accessory for the Vivo X200 Ultra. Read our hands-on review to find out if it's worth the high price for photography enthusiasts.

In our recent review, Vivo’s current flagship phone impressed us with its outstanding camera performance. The collaboration with Zeiss is noticeable in several photo features and certain Zeiss technologies that are found on the flagship phone, such as the special Zeiss T* coating that has been applied to the lenses. This coating helps minimize unwanted reflections and stray light, which leads to clearer and sharper images.

For all photography enthusiasts who want to get the most out of their smartphone camera, Vivo also offers an optional Photography Kit. This kit was manufactured by PGYTECH and visually transforms the Vivo X200 Ultra into a small mirrorless camera.

Photography Kit for the Vivo X200 Ultra sports a battery

This accessory was provided to us by Trading Shenzhen and includes a camera grip with an internal battery and a capacity of 2,300mAh. Below the grip, there is a 1/4-inch screw thread for attaching a tripod, which is particularly practical for long exposure shots.

The camera grip for the Vivo X200 Ultra further features typical camera elements that are intended to make the phone easier to use. These include a separate shutter button, a video button, a stepless zoom rocker and an exposure lever. There's little to criticize here, as the shutter button responds to pressure levels for focusing and capturing.

Another component of the kit is a protective case with an integrated kickstand, as well as a 67mm filter adapter that allows for attaching a polarizing filter or ND filter. These filters are essential for specific effects, such as reducing reflections on water or glass surfaces, or controlling exposure time. Additionally, the package includes a carrying strap.

The overall build quality of the grip and the case is decent, but the plastic doesn't feel particularly high-quality. The textured surfaces don’t compensate for this.

Teleconverter turns Android smartphone into a full-fledged camera

The Zeiss teleconverter is particularly interesting, as it was specifically developed for the X200 Ultra's telephoto lens. This converter can extend the focal length to 200mm, which corresponds to an 8.7x optical zoom. For comparison, the smartphone itself has a lossless zoom range of 85mm out of the box.

In contrast to the case and camera grip, the teleconverter feels very high-quality and is made of metal. As a result of the considerable longer focal length, users should note that the Vivo X200 Ultra will feel even more top-heavy.

Users who don’t need the teleconverter can also save a lot of money in this case. The basic package costs approximately €180, while the kit with Zeiss optics is currently priced at around €360 Euros on TradingShenzhen.

In a separate upcoming article, we will take a look at the image quality of the teleconverter and compare pictures with the stock Vivo X200 Ultra.
