The boAt Smart Ring Active Plus is positioned as a much cheaper alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Ring. To make the lower price possible, boAt uses a stainless steel case instead of titanium, but it is still water-resistant to a depth of 5 ATM, meaning the ring can also be worn while swimming.
The ring weighs 4.7 grams and promises a battery life of five days. In tandem with the supplied charging case, a runtime of 30 days is said to be possible. The ring features a heart rate sensor that can supposedly measure heart rate variability and blood oxygen saturation. Moreover, a skin temperature sensor is on board for recording changes in skin temperature over the course of the day.
The ring is also designed to track the user's sleep and stress, but due to the lack of an EDA sensor, stress can only be estimated based on the heart rate. All collected data is displayed in the corresponding smartphone app. Together with the boAt Smart Ring Active Plus, the app not only enables fitness tracking and special sports challenges, but can also trigger the camera of the connected smartphone by simply shaking the hand on which the ring is worn.
