AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL / 870

The AMD Radeon RX Vega M GL or Radeon RX Vega 870 (according to Dell) is an integrated GPU in the slower Intel Kaby-Lake-G SoC. It combines a Kaby-Lake processor, a Vega graphics card and 4 GB HBM2 memory on a single package. The graphics card offers 20 CUs (1280 shaders) and is clocked from 931 - 1011 MHz.

Currently it looks like the GPU is a mixture of Polaris (Shaders?) and Vega (HBM memory controller at least). E.g. the graphics card is called Polaris 22 internally. Detailed information on the Vega architecture can be found in our dedicated article about the Raven Ridge architecture.

The performance of the Vega M GL should be between the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti according to benchmarks from Intel. Therefore, it should be well suited for 1080p and high resolution gaming.

The power consumption should be quite similar to a dedicated Vega Mobile GPU, but due to the small form factor, smaller laptops can be built with the Kaby-Lake-G SoC. The TDP is specified at 65 Watt for the whole package including GPU, CPU and HBM2 memory.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (Desktop)

The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 Super is a powerful, mid-tier, Turing-based, desktop GPU. The GTX 1660 Super is based on the TU116 chip with 1,408 shader units, 48 ROPs, 88 TMUs and a 192-bit-wide memory bus (GDDR6 clocked at 7 GHz, effectively 14 GHz, bandwidth: up to 336 GB/s).

The TU116 chip and other Turing-based GPUs are produced using the 12-nm manufacturing process. However, the GeForce GTX 1660 does not offer the latest features such as DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and Real Time Ray Tracing. Nevertheless, there are some architectural improvements when it comes to floating point and integer performance. These operations can now be carried out simultaneously. Other notable features include Adaptive Shading, unified cache, DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, HDR, Simultaneous Multi-Projection (SMP) as well as H.265 encoding and decoding (PlayReady 3.0).

At Full HD resolution, the GeForce GTX 1660 Super performance lies between a GeForce GTX 1660 / GTX 1060 and a GTX 1660 Ti / 1070. Therefore, it is most suited for demanding games of 2019 in full HD resolution and maximum detail settings, or QHD at slightly reduced settings.

The energy consumption of the GeForce GTX 1660 Super amounts to 125 watts and therefore 5 Watt higher than the GTX 1060 or GTX 1660 Ti.

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64

The AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 is a high-end desktop graphics card that was announced in August 2017. It uses the Vega 10 chip and is the top model of the AMD desktop graphics cards (through 2018). It offers 64 CUs clocked at 1247 - 1546 MHz (Boost) and 8 GB HBM2 graphics memory. In games, the Vega 64 offers a similar performance as a Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 on average.
