It seems that Ugreen has quietly launched a relatively affordable external M.2 SSD enclosure on the global market. Available in 20Gbps and 10Gbps options, it can hold up to an 8TB NVMe drive, and the faster variant is currently available for $34.99.

Ugreen has quietly launched an affordable external M.2 SSD enclosure. It's available in two variants, and one of them is rated for 20Gbps transfer speed. Although the promotional material refers to the USB 3.0 Gen 2 interface for achieving this transfer rate, it should be USB 3.2 Gen 2x2.

As for the 10Gbps variant, it relies on the USB 3.2 Gen 2, which matches the marketed transfer speed. Besides this, all the other aspects of the two variants are the same.

That includes a built-in USB-C cable that makes this NVMe SSD enclosure easy to carry around. Ugreen also includes a Type-C to Type-A converter in the box, which can come in handy to make this external drive enclosure work with devices that don't come with a USB-C port.

The company further highlights the aluminum housing of the enclosure, which makes it light, and the build is also said to help with heat dissipation. Installing an SSD into it seems easy as well, as the promo materials note that it only takes 4 steps.

Speaking of which, the enclosure only has support for 2280, 2230, 2242, and 2260 M.2 SSDs, and the NVMe slot inside can be equipped with up to an 8TB drive. Other notable aspects include an indicator light, a sleek overall design, and an adjustable clip on the braided Type-C cable.

On Amazon, Ugreen lists the 10Gbps version of the SSD enclosure at $29.99, while the 20Gbps model has a retail price of $39.99. However, the current price of the latter is $34.99, making it more worthwhile than the slower version.
