Timex’s M79 Automatic gets a playful Bugs Bunny makeover
Timex is taking a break from Snoopy with a new Looney Tunes collaboration that puts Bugs Bunny on its retro-inspired M79 Automatic. Complete with a carrot-shaped seconds hand and an exhibition case back, the quirky timepiece has finally made its way to the global market after debuting in India first.

Timex and Snoopy have been practically inseparable lately, with the American watchmaker rolling out one Peanuts collaboration after another. But for its latest cartoon-inspired timepiece, Timex is turning to another legendary cartoon character. The new Looney Tunes x Timex M79 Automatic puts Bugs Bunny front and center, and after debuting in India earlier this month, it’s finally making its way to the global market.

The Looney Tunes x Timex M79 Automatic (TW2Y99200) sticks to the familiar 1970s-inspired dive watch design, with a 40mm stainless-steel case, a rotating gray bezel, and a matching metal bracelet. The black dial is where things get interesting, though.

Bugs Bunny appears in his trademark laid-back pose at 6 o'clock, complete with a carrot in hand. Fittingly, a miniature carrot doubles as the sweeping seconds hand, adding a dose of whimsy to an otherwise fairly traditional design.

Elsewhere, the watch features luminous hands and hour markers, a day-date display at 3 o’clock, and a vintage-style domed acrylic crystal. On the back, we have an exhibition case back with Looney Tunes branding, offering us a look at the automatic movement inside.

Speaking of the movement, it's a 21-jewel Miyota 8205 automatic movement, which offers a 42-hour power reserve and winds itself as you move your wrist. The accuracy is rated for -20/+40 sec/day.

The stainless-steel bracelet features quick-release spring bars and a butterfly clasp, too, making it relatively easy to remove without reaching for a toolkit. The watch also packs a unidirectional rotating bezel and 50-meter water resistance, although you probably shouldn’t mistake its retro diver looks for serious underwater credentials.
