Ledger has launched a new crypto hardware wallet stick that sits in the sweet price spot between the beginner's Nano S, and the full-featured Ledger Nano X meant for the pros. The Ledger Nano S Plus costs just US$79, yet comes packed with security features to safely store your Bitcoin, Ethereum, NFTs, or various meme tokens out of scammers' reach.

Ledger is out with its new Nano S Plus crypto hardware wallet USB-C stick to safely store over 5,500 digital assets, from Bitcoin and Ethereum through BAYC NFTs, to meme tokens like Shiba Inu. At US$79, the Nano S Plus is priced at the sweet spot of features and affordability. While it lacks the battery and Bluetooth connectivity of its larger Ledger Nano X sibling, and only supports Android on the mobile side, the Nano S Plus costs almost twice less and offers otherwise identical features:

  • Ledger Nano S Plus weight and dimensions: 62.39 x 17.40 x 8.24mm, 21g
  • Ledger Nano S Plus display: 128 × 64 pixels
  • Ledger Nano S Plus wallets support: 50+ popular crypto wallets
  • Ledger Nano S Plus crypto storage: up to 100 installed apps across over 5,500 digital assets
  • Ledger Nano S Plus connectivity: USB-C
  • Ledger Nano S Plus security: Certified secure chip (CC EAL5+)
  • Ledger Nano S Plus vs Nano X price: US$79 vs US$149

As you can see, besides the Bluetooth connectivity, iOS support, and slightly less memory, the key Ledger Nano S Plus vs Nano X specs are identical, so the new Nano is ideal for beginners who want to "smoothly enter the world of DeFi and Web3," as Ledger eloquently puts it. The Nano S Plus is only offered in somber black plastic and stainless steel design, unlike the US$59 Nano S which can be had in several colors.

The first Ledger Nano S Plus reviews praise its security and action protocols, but are a bit lukewarm to its options for staking crypto and earn interest. In order to sell your hard-earned Bored Ape NFT, for instance, a hacker has to have a physical access to your Nano S Plus stick besides everything else. On staking, the Ledger Nano S Plus offers the ability to earn 6%-10% interest on Polkadot (DOT), Cosmos (ATOM), Tron (TRX), or Tezos (XTZ), and that's that, while Ledger also advertises Algorand (ALGO) support that no longer offers staking.

In any case, the Ledger Nano S Plus may be the best secure crypto hardware wallet in terms of value for money you can get at the moment, while if battery operation and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as iOS support are important to you, you can get the Ledger Nano X crypto hardware wallet on Amazon.
