The first fully Chinese desktop: Huawei launches PC with Kirin X90 and HarmonyOS

Huawei has unveiled the Qingyun HM650, the industry’s first desktop PC built entirely from Chinese-made components, including the processor, memory, SSD, and power supply. Designed for government agencies and businesses, it is also the company’s first desktop computer to run HarmonyOS.
The Qingyun HM650 is powered by Huawei’s ten-core Kirin X90 processor, which supports 20 threads and features integrated Maleoon graphics. The chip has a 40 W TDP and uses a dual-sided cooling system. The configuration also includes 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
According to Huawei, the 100% Chinese-component claim was verified by Zhejiang Kezheng Electronic Information Product Inspection. This means the components are domestically produced, not necessarily that Huawei developed every one of them itself.
The computer runs a corporate version of HarmonyOS and includes Huawei's Xiaoyi AI assistant. It can help users find information, create documents, organize files, transcribe meetings and generate summaries. The PC also supports file sharing and integration with compatible Huawei devices. Some AI features require an internet connection and an additional subscription.

Huawei has also equipped the PC with a range of enterprise management and security tools. IT administrators can manage devices centrally, set access permissions, and control which applications employees can use. The PC supports two isolated workspaces, allowing users to switch between internal and external networks. Its Star Shield 2.0 security architecture includes protection against digital fraud, as well as AI-based detection of face and voice manipulation.
Data protection features include hardware encryption for the built-in SSD, controls over application access to files, and encrypted document transfers.
The Qingyun HM650, equipped with a Kirin X90 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512 GB SSD, is priced at 7,199 yuan, or approximately $1,080. Huawei’s official online store lists December 1 as the start of sales.
