Steam Frame owners will reportedly receive a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx

Valve has yet to reveal the exact release date and price of the Steam Frame, although recent reports suggest the VR headset could start shipping as early as September 14. Valve has not confirmed that date yet, but it appears the company is already preparing some extras for future Steam Frame owners.

Valve appears to be working on a promotion that will give anyone who purchases a Steam Frame a free copy of Half-Life: Alyx. The promotion was discovered in Steam's backend code, where references to terms such as "Frame Alyx Promo" and "HLAlyxPromoButtons" were found.

While Valve has not officially announced the offer, these backend references strongly suggest that a dedicated promotion is being prepared for the Steam Frame.

Half-Life: Alyx originally launched in March 2020 for Windows before arriving on Linux in May of the same year. The game was also offered as a free bonus with the Valve Index headset when it launched, and the offer is still available today. It now appears Valve could be expanding the same idea to the Steam Frame, meaning users will have an excellent game ready to play on their headset from day one.
