Sony is set to launch a brand-new Hi-Fi music player, the Walkman NW-ZX900, very soon, featuring a number of significant upgrades, according to a specs leak. However, the next-generation Walkman is also expected to be considerably more expensive.

The Sony Walkman NW-ZX900 was already spotted on Geekbench last December, and now The Walkman Blog has published several images as well as the key details about the high-end music player's specifications and price. According to the report, the device is expected to launch in November.

The Walkman NW-ZX900 is reportedly set to be offered in Japan for ¥210,000 ($1,330), making it significantly more expensive. At first glance, the design barely changes, although the new model does away with the bulge on the back. However, the body is larger overall, as the Walkman NW-ZX900 reportedly measures 13.9 x 7.7 x 1.75 centimeters and weighs 345 grams, making the music player 118 grams or 52 percent heavier than its predecessor.

Sony is apparently once again opting for a high-quality aluminum chassis, offering both a 3.5 mm and a balanced 4.4 mm headphone jack. The bottom houses a USB-C port for charging, while the battery is said to provide 30 hours of music streaming or 40 hours of playback of locally stored music – meaning the battery lasts almost twice as long as in the previous model.

Sony is not only installing a faster processor, but also doubling the RAM to 8 GB. The internal storage is fairly limited at 64 GB, but can be expanded with a microSD card. Unsurprisingly, the Walkman NW-ZX900 also supports Bluetooth, including LC3 and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive. Despite the larger chassis, the display still measures 5 inches, but the resolution reportedly increases from 720p to 1080p. The Walkman is expected to ship with Android 16.
