Sigma unveils tiny FP2 full-frame camera with OLED clip-on viewfinder

The Sigma fp L ($1,579 on Amazon) is finally getting a successor after five years. The Sigma FP2 is just as compact as its predecessor and weighs only 460 grams with a battery and SD card, yet Sigma has still managed to extend battery life by almost a third to 370 shots according to the CIPA standard.
Sigma stays true to the angular body design and installs a flip-out touchscreen with 2.1 million dots on the back. Alternatively, a separately available Sigma EVF-21 OLED viewfinder with 5.76 million dots can be attached. In addition to a control dial and the shutter button, the top of the camera also houses a slider to switch between photo and video modes. A hot shoe, however, is conspicuously absent. This is no oversight, as the camera only offers an electronic shutter and therefore cannot be used with flashes.
Sigma uses a partially stacked 24.5-megapixel full-frame sensor that can capture DNG RAW photos at a resolution of 6,016 x 4,012 pixels as well as 6K open-gate video. With support for ProRes RAW HQ, 32-bit float audio recording and a battery life of two hours of video recording, the camera should also appeal to video enthusiasts. Compared to the previous model, Sigma also touts significantly faster autofocus, a faster 10 Gbit/s USB-C port and 70 GB of internal storage in addition to the SD slot. The Leica L-mount provides a wide selection of lenses.
