With the Aquos R11, Sharp has unveiled one of the most unusual smartphones on the market; not only does the device feature a unique RGB LED strip on the back, but it also boasts a Pro IGZO OLED panel manufactured by Sharp itself, which achieves an impressive refresh rate of 240 Hz.

The Sharp Aquos series has traditionally taken a slightly different approach than most smartphones on the market, and the brand-new Aquos R11 is no exception. This starts with the design, featuring a strongly rounded – though not quite round – camera module that not only bears the Leica branding but also houses an RGB LED strip.

This LED strip can not only indicate incoming notifications; Sharp also offers a range of relaxation modes where the LED strip can, for example, flicker red while the crackling of a campfire is played. Sharp has equipped the device with a 50-megapixel f/1.9 main camera with a 1/1.55-inch sensor, a 50-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with a 1/2.55-inch sensor, a 38.5-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera with 2.9x optical zoom and a 1/2.88-inch sensor, as well as a 14-channel multispectral sensor for more accurate color reproduction.

The 50 MP f/2.2 selfie camera is housed in a center punch-hole. The 6.5-inch display is a real standout in the smartphone market, as the Sharp Pro IGZO OLED panel, with a refresh rate of 240 Hz, is even faster than the displays on gaming smartphones.

Sharp touts a full-screen brightness of 1,800 nits and a peak HDR brightness of 3,600 nits. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 promises near-flagship performance. Although the Sharp Aquos R11 is quite thick at 8.9 millimeters, the battery holds only 5,100 mAh. The front and back are protected by durable Gorilla Glass Victus 2; the smartphone is IP69-certified and therefore waterproof.

Pricing and Availability

The Sharp Aquos R11 will launch in Japan on July 9, 2026; the base model with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage costs ¥163,900 ($1,022). Sharp has not yet confirmed any information regarding a potential international launch. However, products from Japan can usually be easily imported via platforms such as ZenMarket.
