The Samsung Galaxy A05 is among the most wallet-friendly Android smartphones of 2023 - although that might have a lot to do with its lack of 5G connectivity. Now, it seems its successor will not have any either. Then again, it seems the A06 will be a more compact version of its forebear, at least.

It has been revealed to have a 5,000mAh battery, dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and the Samsung Galaxy line's habitual round-cornered silhouette, yet lacks the 5G of most newer S- and A-series variants. However, according to its new leaks, it is in fact the next-gen A06 rather than the A05.

According to new filings by the FCC, it has the new model number SM-A065F/DS, a finding confirmed by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which also overtly refers to the device as the Galaxy A06, and adds that it will also launch as the SM-A065M or SM-A065M/DS.

The identifiers are also all direct counterparts of those of the A05 for the Indian market, the one sold in the US and the dual-SIM version of the same respectively.

On the other hand, the A06 variants are also thought to launch with the Helio G88, which would be somewhat of a change from the G85 of the A05.

In addition, the FCC has found that the A06 will be 167.3 millimeters (mm) long and 77.31mm wide, which suggests that it can just about fit into the footprint of its predecessor. Therefore, it might be interesting to see if the 2 devices will have the same HD+ 60Hz LCD display.

All in all, there is little to suggest that the Galaxy A06 will have no reason to deviate hugely from the price-point of the A05, which currently starts at $115 with 4GB of RAM and a 50MP rear camera on Amazon.
