Buy this phone for the tall panel where every Android app behaves, for a hinge that laughs at Delhi pavements, and for the best displays on sale. Buy the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 instead for Rs 20,000 less, 14g lighter, with the same chip and much the same endurance.

So, should you buy the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra? It depends on what you’re comparing it to. If you’re coming from the Galaxy Z Fold 7, this is a hard recommendation, mainly because of the price. The display got brighter, hitting 3,000 nits with a new anti-reflective layer that actually makes a difference outdoors.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is for the folks who prioritize having a folding phone first and taking good photos second. It’s a pretty darn good phone, with great battery life, solid performance and some other improvements over the Z Fold 7. For everyone who’s committed to the folding phone life and can accept the trade-offs compared to the traditional Galaxy S26 Ultra, this is a very good phone. It’s just not the one I’d buy.

The Fold 8 has changed the conversation around Samsung’s flagship foldable. I’m not even sure which one is the flagship anymore, because they’re both so good and so capable. If you’ve been a Samsung Z Fold person for quite a while and you’re due an upgrade, the Fold 8 Ultra will almost definitely be the one you go for. It’s the safe choice and, if you skipped the Fold 7 last year, it’ll be a huge upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's most premium book-style foldable yet, combining a thinner and lighter design with flagship hardware throughout. It features a large high-resolution foldable display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, an upgraded 200MP camera system, and a 5,000mAh silicon-carbon battery with 45W fast charging.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is Samsung's most capable foldable phone yet, but it's far from the most interesting foldable this year. The fact that it keeps the same form factor that Samsung has offered for a few years now, but has been released alongside the arguably more interesting Galaxy Z Fold 8, kind of puts it in a weird position.

After three weeks with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, I don’t think any single new feature defines this phone. Instead, Samsung has refined almost every part of the Fold experience and together, those changes make a much bigger difference than I expected.

Much of the spotlight this year has understandably been on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It is the model with the fresh design and the one that generated most of the conversation around Samsung's latest foldables. Quietly sitting alongside it, however, is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and despite the lack of fanfare, it brings together a series of meaningful refinements that make a noticeable difference in everyday use, even for someone who has been using foldables for years.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is the most complete Fold Samsung has made. There are some big upgrades here, like the jump to a 5,000 mAh battery from the 4,400 mAh cell used in the previous five generations, 45W wired charging, a notably reduced crease, and a flatter foldable display. Brighter screens and the anti-reflective coating on the inner display are welcome too.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is an excellent foldable and would more than likely be considered the best option on the market. However, the smaller, wider and new Galaxy Z Fold 8 exists with a slightly lower price tag and a shape that might be better for most people. Should the regular Fold 8 not tempt you, then yeah, get the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is, despite its power, screen size, and excellent camera array, somehow the less interesting Z Fold 8 model, but it still reigns supreme in my book. Samsung has upgraded it just enough — it's flatter, lighter, and has a better battery and better cameras — to make the market's best-overall folding flagship virtually unbeatable, and I would choose it over the competition every single day.

I like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 more than its predecessor. But the lack of major upgrades or design changes means that it doesn't have the profound impact of the Z Fold 7 when it first debuted the delightfully thin chassis that's still in use today. Samsung also tacked on even beefier performance, brighter displays and better battery life, so there are nice improvements throughout — even if it doesn't look all that different from the outside.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is an unusual flagship, in that instead of reinventing Samsung's foldable formula, it simply polishes almost every rough edge that remained. The crease is finally negligible. The chassis is astonishingly thin and light. The displays remain industry-leading. Performance is effortless, battery life is finally dependable and the cameras have matured enough to stop feeling like a compromise. The ₹25,000 premium feels driven as much by positioning as by engineering. Whether that's enough depends on what you're looking for.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra gets a few minor upgrades that are worth celebrating: the new 50MP ultrawide camera is excellent; the higher-capacity battery delivers a small bump in battery life; and the new Flex Titanium display is as close to creaseless as a Samsung folding screen has ever been. Even with its novel aspect ratio, dependable battery and reliable performance, its premium cost still remains the biggest hurdle to entry. Despite being priced at S$200 cheaper than its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8’s S$2,498 starting price point is still rather eye-catching for any smartphone, especially since it does fall short in a few areas like its less-than-stellar camera setup and tendency to run hot.

Like many, I grew up wearing Levi’s jeans, where a pocket was fundamentally there to hold your phone or wallet. Although pockets have been sewn into clothing for years and have a deep history, the problem I have been facing is how to fit a phone. Sure, pockets haven’t seen any real innovation in many years, but honestly, modern smartphones aren’t designed to fit comfortably inside tight pockets either, especially if you wear trousers or jeans.

The pitch is pretty straightforward with the Galaxy Z Fold 8. If you want a refined, pocketable book-style foldable, this is the one I’d steer you toward first. There’s no other of its ilk out there. Widening the cover screen and shaving the open body to just 4.5 mm removed the hurdles that made me hesitate before recommending foldable phones. Ergonomics and daily in-hand usage are a huge success story on this one. If long-range camera capture is what you care about most, a conventional slab flagship or the pricier Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra will serve you better.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 flips the script on traditional smartphone design with a short, passport-shaped body that unfolds into a thin and lightweight tablet and turns every head it passes through. It delivers on performance, software and even cameras with consistent shots.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is an exciting phone, and the new shape brings some genuinely fresh energy to a category that has been feeling predictable for a good number of years now. My worry is that the novelty could eventually wear thin, and the small annoyances I’ve outlined here start to outweigh the fun factor. That hasn’t happened for me yet, but it’s a real possibility down the line.

Its time to durability test the Galaxy Z Fold8 - the new 'wide' folding phone from Samsung. Get protection for your own phone from dbrand HERE: https://www.dbrand.com/shop/fold-8 The Z Fold 8 is probably the new globally favorite form factor for the folding phones. If apple says its going to be the favorite, than its going to be the favorite. Samsung did beat apple to the punch though - which is normal.

The writing has been on the wall for some time that the era of modern flip phones may be coming to an end. Samsung hasn't said anything about it, but reports have pointed to the rising popularity of book-style foldables, so much so that even Motorola has joined the party. If there's one phone that I can see killing the flip phone and taking foldables truly mainstream, it's the Galaxy Z Fold 8.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a satisfyingly compact yet versatile foldable phone that’s great for endless scrolling, binge watching and web surfing. While the Z Fold 8 Ultra is the true follow-up to last year’s Z Fold 7, and is therefore better suited for multitasking and pro-grade photography, the Z Fold 8 is a good fit for most people who want a premium foldable phone that adapts to their habits.

Overall, I’m a big fan of the Galaxy Z Fold 8. It’s the foldable design I’d rather carry and use every day over any other foldable. It’s lighter and more compact than the Fold 8 Ultra, and the main display is big enough for split-screen multitasking and binge watching. I also really appreciate that the crease is less visible and especially the anti-glare coating, as well as the strong performance and pretty solid battery life.

As much as I love this phone, I know that $1,899.99 is a really big ask. It's no coincidence that Samsung introduced a new Galaxy credit card to help users finance their devices. So, here's what I'd say: If you can take advantage of a good trade-in or carrier offer at T-Mobile or Verizon, I think this phone is absolutely worth the upgrade, especially if you love phones that fit in your pocket. Galaxy Fold8 is Samsung's most interesting experiment with foldables in recent years, with the company explicitly saying that it's a smartphone for content, not work. After a week of use, I can say that this positioning is only half true. As an entertainment device, the Fold8 is truly excellent: the 4:3 format of the internal screen is perfect for reading, 16:10 in landscape mode is perfect for videos and games, and the weight of 201 grams makes it the most comfortable Fold for long-term holding.

Despite being smaller than last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 packs a larger-capacity battery — specifically 4,800mAh versus 4,400mAh. That’s thanks to Samsung finally adopting industry-leading silicon-carbon battery technology, which boasts higher energy density than the lithium-ion technology used by Samsung (and indeed most other Western phone manufacturers) in its previous batteries.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is not the mid-range foldable I was hoping for. Yes, it's more affordable than the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, which inherits the form factor (if not the name) of last year's Galaxy Z Fold 7, though the starting price of S$2,498 still puts it in the premium category. Why did Samsung wait until 2026 to launch the Fold 8? I have no idea, although I’d imagine they’ve had this form factor sitting in their lab for quite some time. The rumours surrounding Apple’s potential leap into the foldable game later this year will doubtless have had an impact on the Fold 8’s emergence. Does that matter? Not at all. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is one of those devices whose appeal hinges largely on whether its unusual proportions speak to you. That will inevitably be a matter of personal preference, but after spending time with it, we think this form factor makes a lot of sense for many - perhaps a much larger crowd than the productivity-focused traditional Galaxy Fold. I got an early first look at the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8, as well as the Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2. For the first time we have three devices in the Z 8 lineup.

After weeks of teasing a “new shape,” Samsung has just officially unveiled the new Z Fold 8, Z Fold 8 Ultra and Z Flip 8. Here's what we thought after going hands-on with the models, from the things that we found promising to the parts that gave us pause. (Spoiler alert: One of those parts is price.)

After using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra, it's clear, these aren’t simply two sizes of the same folding phone. They represent two very different ideas of what a foldable should be – one is probably a better phone, and the other is probably a better tablet. In this hands-on comparison, I explain why screen shape matters as much as screen size, and how that affects video, photography, typing and everyday use.

I’ll have lots more to say about the Galaxy X Z Fold8 after I get to use it properly, but for now, I’ll just say this: it’s a refreshing new form factor that holds a lot of promise. Making content consumption more immersive seems to be one of its key highlights, and it does that without compromising on any of the core features expected of a Samsung flagship.

I’ll be getting my hands on a review sample in the very near future so we’ll have a more definitive answer to that once I’ve run the Galaxy Z Fold 8 through our rigorous testing gauntlet. There’s also the lack of premium features like wireless charging or a telephoto camera to consider; these seem fair enough when compared to the more expensive Ultra model but the bottom line is you’re still spending £1,699 here – shouldn’t that net you all the bells and whistles?

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is Samsung’s first wide-format foldable phone, and it could be the ideal design for those who want something super light and compact but still delivers a big and bright 7.6-inch display when unfolded.

I might not have spent much time with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 so far, but I’ve got a feeling this is something special. Book-style foldables have arguably struggled to find a mainstream audience with their boxy inner foldable panels and awkward cover screens, but the Fold 8 manages to fix this in one fell swoop.

Meet the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. It features a new form factor with a 5.5-inch, 10:16 cover screen and a 7.6-inch 4:3 main display. It's designed to make viewing content a lot better, especially when used in portrait mode, such as reading an ebook, and offers a better viewing experience for Netflix content.

Samsung wants potential foldable smartphone buyers to have different screen size options, and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is one of the best examples. The company showcased the all-new book-style foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, and after spending some time with the new device, I can say that this form factor is designed to move easily from cover screen interactions to media consumption, reading and browsing on the main larger internal display.

Overall, Samsung's new crop of Galaxy Z devices turned out to be an intriguing mix of exciting and underwhelming. We definitely found the new Galaxy Z Fold8 form factor very intriguing. There is still a lot of testing to be done and various particulars to be looked into, but on the surface, as far as first impressions go, we kind of like where things are going.

For the first time in a while, I’m genuinely excited to spend more time with a smartphone after getting a brief hands-on preview. The Z Fold 8 is a refreshing change in Samsung’s typically incrementally improved summer phone lineup, and it seems like the exact blend of size and functionality that could get me to use a foldable full time.

My Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra vs regular Fold 8 smartphone comparison runs through the specs and features of these 2026 bendy blowers. The biggest difference, certainly at first glance, is the design. While the 'Ultra' sticks with Sammy's usual foldable finish, the regular model sports a new wide-and-squat finish.

Samsung's surprising duo of new foldables have made a positive first impression. We've been a fan of having a bigger screen to watch movies on that conveniently fits into your pocket for quite a while now, so having an even more compact option that's made with content consumption in mind is music to our ears.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 is exactly the design I want, and I think it will encourage users to mostly use the front screen and only pull out the larger one for media consumption, which is exactly how I think one should use a foldable. And its compact design will definitely make it more enticing for many.

The Galaxy Fold 8 retains much of what is already familiar about Samsung’s book-style foldables while introducing a lighter design and a few functional updates. The revised size and display setup remain central to the overall experience, offering different ways to use the device depending on whether it is folded or unfolded. A brief hands-on session is not enough to assess the phone’s overall performance, battery life or camera capabilities, and those aspects will require more extensive testing.

It’s hard not to be enamored with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8. For me, a passport-sized foldable is the design that makes the most practical sense, and I’m glad Samsung finally decided to execute it. If you can’t tell, my initial reaction to this device is overwhelmingly positive, though I’m keeping in mind that this could just be the initial honeymoon phase.

In this video, he’ll give you an exclusive first look at the massive breakthrough coming to the Galaxy Z Fold 8: a game-changing technology called Flex Titanium. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store.
