Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro cameras probably less "ultra" than expected

When leakers first suggested a new pro model for the Galaxy S27 series in 2027 many compared the compact flagship to its counterpart in the Apple iPhone universe: Two flagship models that primarily differ in size. However the final Galaxy S27 Pro might be very different from this idea of a smaller Galaxy S27 Ultra model as current supply chain information out of South Korea suggests.
Most recently it was reported that Samsung apparently plans to adopt a region-specific chipset strategy for the Galaxy S27 Pro, similar to what they usually do with the regular and plus-sized models of the Galaxy S series. If this turns out to be true, only US-customers will get a Snapdragon chip with their Galaxy S27 Pro. But the chipset might not be the only “non-Ultra” feature of the Galaxy S27 Pro, as Korea's Yeux1122 blog currently suggests.
Although specific specs weren’t revealed yet, industry insiders apparently emphasize that the Pro model’s specifications are likely to be significantly less ambitious than initially planned. Accordingly, it’s more likely that the Galaxy S27 Pro will be more like a late successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge rather than a smaller Galaxy S27 Ultra.
In particular, the camera specs are likely to be disappointing if you expect a smaller Ultra model. instead, they’re more likely to represent an intermediate step between the Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Ultra. A few months ago, a leaker suggested that at least the main camera and ultra-wide-angle might be identical between the Pro model and the Galaxy S27 Ultra. It remains to be seen whether that’s still the case or if Samsung has implemented further cost-cutting measures.
