It's a fine time to need a desktop replacement laptop. You have a positive plethora of 16-inch models to choose from, many with dazzling OLED displays, and some with discrete GPUs instead of integrated graphics if you're into visual apps or 1080p gaming. Samsung's Galaxy Book4 Ultra (starts at $2,399.99; $2,999.99 as tested) is a sleek machine with the company's top-quality AMOLED screen technology, up-to-date Intel and Nvidia silicon, and the biggest touchpad and power plug you've ever seen. It's worth checking out, particularly if integration with a Samsung Galaxy phone interests you. But it's expensive, joining models like the Gigabyte Aero 16 OLED and Dell XPS 16 in the high-priced spread.

While it's easy to recommend the Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Ultra as the "MacBook Pro for Samsung users," several upgrades this year, including the Intel Core Ultra chip for AI applications, touchscreen display, and improved battery life, make the laptop a formidable pickup for just about every Windows user. Just note that if you're a content creator who relies on full-sized SD cards to transfer photos and videos, you'll want to pick up a dongle or docking station to work with the Galaxy Book. There's also no charging port on the laptop's right side, so you'll want to think twice when situating near an outlet.

Our barrage of tests concludes that, yes, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Ultra is an excellent content-creation laptop, just maybe not as fast as the more expensive Dell XPS. But there’s a lot to like here: the Book4 offers a gorgeous OLED screen, — which, to be fair, more competitors are offering — the keyboard is serviceable, and the webcam will be just fine for most purposes. The audio is at the top of the heap, however. Combine the rich screen and the Book4’s powerful audio and this is definitely a multimedia PC you’ll enjoy using. The absolute selling point, as you’ve probably concluded, is that this laptop’s battery life is absolutely top-notch. This is the laptop I’d bring on a flight to Asia. Is this quite a gaming laptop? No, it’s not, but Samsung doesn’t sell it as such. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy Book4 is the luxury coupe that your fingers will want to drive.

NVIDIA NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU: High-end graphics card for laptops based on the Ada Lovelace architecture. Offers 8 GB GDDR6 (128 Bit) and is configurable with a TGP of 35 - 115W (+ Dynamic Boost). 

These graphics cards are able to play the latest and most demanding games in high resolutions and full detail settings with enabled Anti-Aliasing.

Ultra 9 185H: The top-of-the-line Meteor Lake chip that debuted in December 2023. This 1st Gen Core Ultra processor has come to replace 13th generation Core chips; it has 16 cores (6 + 8 + 2) and 22 threads at its disposal. Its Performance cores, of which there are 6, run at up to 5.1 GHz while its Efficient cores, of which there are 10 (8 main cores plus 2 extra ones found in the Low Power Island) run at up to 3.8 GHz. The 8-core Arc GPU, just out of the oven, serves as the integrated graphics adapter - this runs at up to 2.35 GHz - and there is a bevy of other brand-new technologies on offer as well such as the integrated AI Boost NPU with two Gen 3 engines for hardware AI workload acceleration. vPro Enterprise and business-centric features such as the Remote Platform Erase are onboard as well.
