The SZBox G48S is a new and compact PC with powerful network options for a relatively low price. The model also comes with a SIM card slot and a number of useful ports.

A new mini PC with a strong focus on network applications is now available for direct import at a relatively low price. The SZBox G48S also functions perfectly well as a soft router in addition to its role as a classic desktop system. The barebone model without RAM is available for direct import for a price of $123.50, including shipping and import fees. The model is also available with 8 or 16 GB of RAM and mass storage in various sizes.

Regardless of the chosen RAM and storage configuration, an Intel N100 is installed. This is a processor with limited performance and more suitable for simpler tasks such as text editing or media playback. The housing has visible and extensive cooling fins and, according to the manufacturer, the system can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which is more or less necessary for a router.

Multi-WAN mode is supported with the appropiate software configuration, allowing for parallel internet connections in order to increase the data transfer rate, for example. The Ethernet ports support a data transfer rate of 2.5 GBit/s. A COM port and a SIM card slot are on board, as well as two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports. HDMI and DisplayPort allow for image output and simultaneous connection to two monitors. Supported operating systems include pfSense and Ubuntu.

A possible alternative: Buy the GEEKOM A5 Mini PC at Amazon.
