Garmin is rumored to be about to launch a range of new features for its smartwatches. There are said to be an improvement for running and a range of new options and metrics for swimming workouts. Plus, it appears that there could also be support for more contactless payment services for Garmin Pay.

Rumors suggest that new Garmin smartwatch features are on the way. The upcoming tools are for running and swimming activities, alongside an update for contactless payments. It is unclear which wearables these tools will roll out to, presumably arriving first in beta updates.

According to a report from the5krunner, with information from an undisclosed source, the calculation used to generate the Running Power metric is expected to be enhanced by considering your stamina. However, precisely how Garmin will do this remains to be seen. New features for the Pool Swim activity are said to improve workout planning. Rumors suggest you will be able to tailor your workout based on your send-off time, which also supports CSS-based send-off times. Your send-off time can be automatically adjusted for the pool length, and you can set your standard rest time. Plus, it seems that there will be new related metrics, including several specifically for Individual Medley.

On top of this, two new payment services are set to be added to Garmin Pay, the contactless payment tool. You can currently pay using credit or debit cards from companies like Mastercard and Visa. In the future, you could also pay via AliPay and T-money, popular services in China and the Republic of Korea. It remains to be seen when these rumored features will roll out to wearables.
