The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has reportedly certified a new phone from the Xiaomi brand Redmi. This device, with its standard connectivity and 10 watt (W) charging, is currently thought to be called the 9 on its launch. It may do so with a 5000mAh battery, at least.

Fans of cost-effective Redmi phones may have been waiting on the 9 for some time. Now, it seems they may not have that long to go, as this device could have passed FCC testing. At least, a new device from this brand known as the M2004J19G has been cleared by this body.

The Redmi 9 is currently thought to have a great deal more in the camera department, and will have a mid-range MediaTek "gaming" SoC rather than a Snapdragon 4-series. Despite this, however, another regulator, 3C, has reportedly found that the putative 9 has 10W charging, whereas the 8 was capable of 18W.

Therefore, the putative 9 may also take a long time to charge its 4920mAh (probably to be effectively rounded up to 5000mAh) battery. It is also rated for Bluetooth and dual-band Wi-Fi, and no other particularly special form of wireless comms. Otherwise, its new certification does not offer further insight into its specs.
