Realme ditches iPhone clone look for toughened-up design in upcoming budget smartphone

Realme hints that the next addition to its ~$100 line of Android smartphones will be unusually "reinforced" for its price, with an official IP54 rating for its Integrated Metallic Frame chassis. The C61 will also debut with at least two cameras, although it is already obvious some of its specs will be outdated on its imminent launch.
Realme has just revealed that its next smartphone will not, in fact, look like the C63 with its iPhone-like camera hump and vegan leather back.
However, its bright green relative might make up for that by being "Tough as Steel", which can be taken to mean that it will have more metal in its build that one might expect for its status as a successor to the C51, which currently starts for INR 8,030 (~$96) on Amazon.in.
The C61 will also debut as an early adopter of TÜV Rheinland's new High Reliability Certificate, which is derived from Realme's new trademarked ArmorShell Protection and Reinforced Glass for its display - although that does not prevent it from having a waterdrop-style notch.
Nevertheless, the device might also be the same C-series Unisoc Tiger T612-powered Android smartphone with a 5,000mAh battery on the inside.
Realme India is scheduled to debut the C61 online on June 28, 2024.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
