Ready for everyday use: New folding e-bike pairs LiDAR radar with automatic 3-speed gearing

Manufacturer ADO, whose electric bikes we have covered and tested previously, has unveiled a new model: the ADO Air 20 LiDAR. While an official release date has not yet been announced, full technical specifications are already available.
True to its name, the ADO Air 20 LiDAR features an integrated hazard detection system comprising front-mounted LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar. Designed to continuously monitor surroundings for oncoming vehicles and obstacles, the system warns riders in real time—a potentially crucial feature when navigating heavy traffic on roads without separated bike lanes.
Weighing 22 kg (48,5 lbs) with standard accessories, the e-bike is powered by a Bafang H730 rear hub motor rated at 50 Nm of torque. The drive system utilizes a dual-sided torque sensor alongside an automatic 3-speed internal gear hub designed to shift based on speed and terrain gradient. Power transfer is handled by a low-maintenance carbon belt drive, fed by a 374 Wh battery.
The Air 20 rides on 20-inch wheels, while its folding frame and pedals simplify transport on public transit or in a vehicle trunk. The grease-free carbon belt also prevents oil stains during transport. Up front, a suspension fork cushions terrain impacts. Standard equipment includes front and rear headlights, full mudguards, and a MIK-compatible rear cargo rack rated for loads up to 25 kg (55,1 lbs). ADO has not yet revealed official pricing, though for reference, the current ADO Air 20 Ultra 2026 retails for €1,899.
